It takes 218 seats to get a majority and until yesterday the Democrats held the House of Representatives, the other house of the US parliament. For the time being, in the state of accounts, the Democrats would have acquired 168 to 188 seats, with a gain of three seats, against 196 to 207 for the Republicans, with a gain of nine seats.
