Direct payment stimulus check of about $1,312 dollars in the United States

The governments of several US states for more than forty years have benefited their residents through the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) program.

The money comes from the capital generated by the exploitation of minerals and oil in the state of Alaska. The initiative is one of the main incentives for residents there, who can apply every year.

This year applications for the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) will be open until March 31. The calculation of the amount is based on the number of eligible applicants and half of the legal net income averaged over the last five years.

Payment Schedule and Eligibility Requirements

Payments of the 2023 Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) are now underway. All eligible Alaskans will receive $1,312 this year.

The first payment of 2023 was made on January 18 for applications in “Eligible-Not Paid” status on January 10. According to the PFD schedule, there are two more rounds of payments left.

People who are in “Eligible-Not Paid” status on February 7, 2024, will receive their money this February 15. The “Eligible-Not Paid” status means that although the application meets the requirements to receive payment, it has not yet been made.

The other scheduled date is March 21, for those applications that maintain the “Eligible-Not Paid” status until March 13.

Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy announced that he will offer a payment of $3,000 USD per person.

The news was published in the Anchorage Daily News, but the final figure will be determined at the end of June 2024. People interested in receiving the benefit have until the last day of March to submit their application.

The requirements to be eligible are:

  • Be legal residents of Alaska.
  • Remain physically present in the state for most of the year.
  • Not have a conviction for a serious crime.
