Presumably around the turn of the year, the Mainz District Court will open insolvency proceedings for in.power GmbH, the pioneer of direct marketing for renewable energies in Germany.
Despite bankruptcy, in.power is not yet lost. There have also been no layoffs yet. The lawyer and restructuring specialist Robert Schiebe von Schiebe und Collegen leads the company as preliminary insolvency administrator.
“In.power GmbH, founded in 2006, is a pioneer and innovation driver for the market and system integration of renewable energies,” says Schiebe. After the turbulence on the energy markets and the bad debt of a market partner, the well-positioned company fell into crisis this year.
The unexpected termination of a framework contract led to high claims due. Due to the associated uncertainties, the management filed for bankruptcy as a precaution at the end of August, the company explains in a press release.
Last year, the independent company had a turnover of 50 million euros. It directly and indirectly marketed 900 megawatts of environmentally friendly electricity. In the insolvency, customers were largely able to be retained, both large operators of wind and solar parks and community energy companies, said Schiebe.
Insolvency administrator: Talks with investors make us optimistic
The involvement administrator negotiates with potential investors. The discussions with interested parties, including project developers for solar and wind energy and larger municipal utilities, would make him confident that he will be able to maintain the company run by the founders. “Above all, in.power offers access to a highly attractive future market”, says lawyer Dr. Robert Schiebe, preliminary insolvency administrator of Schiebe and Collegen.
In.power subsidiaries not affected by bankruptcy
The subsidiaries of the in.power group are not affected by the insolvency. These include in.power metering GmbH for metering point operation, grün power GmbH for green electricity supply, in.power optimize GmbH for energy data optimization and the sister company in.power network GmbH for joint ventures with third parties. These companies continue to operate without restrictions.
The core business of in.power is the direct marketing of renewable energies from wind energy, photovoltaics, biomass and gas as well as hydropower. The goal is a 100 percent supply of environmentally friendly electricity. In addition, the group operates measuring points, offers tailor-made solutions and flexible models for the optimal marketing of electricity after the end of the EEG subsidy, supplies electricity to end customers for EEG system operators, offers solutions for feeding in solar electricity and a platform for joint ventures that gives market partners access to Direct marketing made possible.
