Direct aid to the Valencian taxi sector
The Minister of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, Arcadi Spain, has announced that direct aid to the taxi sector to alleviate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, «will be at least 1,000 euros per taxi driver from the Valencian Community and that the Consell is expected to approve the measures this same month of February ”, which will have a total investment of 4.7 million.
As explained by the Minister, “the taxi sector is essential for mobility in the Valencian Community and is closely linked to tourist activity, for this reason, the Generalitat has provided 4.7 million euros in direct aid for the sector with the objective of helping to alleviate the losses caused by Covid-19 ».
With this measure, he stressed, the Generalitat seeks to “guarantee the operation of a very important sector, a public service in which thousands of people work.”
This line of aid, which will be approved by the Plenary of the Consell this month, “has the objective of supporting workers in the sector who have suffered a significant decrease in income due to mobility restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic” , Arcadi Spain has pointed out.
Added to this initiative are the subsidized loans from the Valencian Institute of Finance (IVF), which include non-reimbursable sections of up to 30%, and from which the holders of 4,500 taxi licenses in the Valencian Community can also benefit.
Likewise, the Ministry of Mobility has also planned to articulate other measures to help the sector such as contributions to promote the renewal of the taxi fleet in the three provinces or the implementation of institutional information campaigns to promote the use of this means of transport, he explained Arcadi Spain.
Finally, the Minister highlighted the “continued work and the climate of dialogue and consensus with the sector that has led to the launch of different lines of aid to try to solve the problems it faces.”
