Diputación.-The elderly of the Assisted Residence arouse the emotions of schoolchildren from La Caada and El Toyo

ALMERA, 13 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Assisted Residence of the Diputación de Almería has participated in the ‘Awake emotions’ initiative, promoted by school nurses from different educational centers in Almería.

Through it, students from the CEIP Ferrer Guardia de los Llanos de La Cañada and the CEIP Torremar de El Toyo have written Christmas greeting letters to the elderly that have filled them with hope.

As a token of gratitude to the schoolchildren, the elders of the residence have answered the letters received and have made two symbolic collages and two hand-painted canvases that they have produced in the Occupational Therapy workshops of the center. The motifs of the canvases have been the dove of peace, a day that is commemorated every January 30.

The elders of the residence who have participated in the initiative, accompanied by the vice president of the Provincial Council and deputy for Social Welfare, Ángel Escobar, as well as nurses and personnel from the Residence, have delivered the collages and the canvases as a token of appreciation for their involvement in ‘Arouse emotions’.

The vice-president of the Provincial Council thanked all the people who have made “this emotional and necessary initiative” possible and, in a special way, the schoolchildren who “have conveyed their empathy and affection to the elderly, making them happy for Christmas”.

“It has been very important for them to receive these signs of affection, they have been very moved and it has helped them to live Christmas with much more joy.”

In this sense, Escobar has highlighted the “indispensable role that all the workers of the Assisted Residence play for the well-being and quality of life of our elders”.

“This project is yet another example of this, where the involvement of school nurses from educational centers has also been essential, as well as schoolchildren and teachers, to whom we are very grateful”, he concluded.
