On Monday evening, FC Den Bosch played against Jong Ajax. Two goals from Kacper Kostorz gave the people of Den Bosch the victory over De Toekomst.
Three changes in the base at FC Den Bosch. Van den Bogert, Mulders and Verbeek were in the starting line-up. It was the first time for Verbeek to start in the starting line-up after his long-term injury. The Den Bosch captain would ultimately be on the field for just under an hour. Henning, Gyamfi and Ogbaidze disappeared from the starting line-up due to these changes.
The first danger of the match came from FC Den Bosch. Mulders was released, after which the attacking back flew past his direct opponent with his trademark action. Five minutes before half time, FC Den Bosch deservedly took the lead. After an attack over many checkers, Vicario played the ball forward to Mulders. The wing defender of FC Den Bosch passed the ball straight to top scorer Kostorz. Goalkeeper De Graaff stopped the cross but could not prevent it from falling to Kostorz. Kostorz’s shot flew against the roof of the goal, giving the visitors a deserved lead. Just before half time, Jong Ajax became dangerous for the first time. Vos picked up the ball just outside the penalty area of FC Den Bosch and scored convincingly. His shot was too wild and it flew just over Hegyi’s goal.
In the first half, FC Den Bosch had the upper hand on the field and deservedly took the lead. The teams went into halftime with a 0-1 score.
Jong Ajax performed better after the break and put FC Den Bosch under pressure in the opening phase of the second half. This resulted in shooting opportunities for Forbs and Banel. Forbs’ shot was blocked and Banel’s shot flew wide. These pinpricks from Jong Ajax showed that the team led by Hedwiges Maduro was awake after a mediocre first half on their part.
Young Ajax was the better team in the first fifteen minutes of the second half, but FC Den Bosch doubled the score after an hour. Brandes tried to pass the ball back to his goalkeeper without looking, but he overlooked the lurking Kostorz. The FC Den Bosch striker intercepted the ball and went one-on-one with goalkeeper De Graaff. Kostorz deftly went around the goalkeeper and then cut down another defender, after which he calmly placed the ball into the goal. The Polish striker’s 14th goal of the season made the score 0-2.
Ten minutes before the end, Jong Ajax had a great chance. After a nice action by Vos on the left, the ball fell well for Fitz-Jim. The opposing midfielder took a swing, but his shot hit the post. After touching the post, the ball flew past and away from the goal. After this opportunity, FC Den Bosch almost immediately got a big chance. Henning came through well on the right side and pulled the ball forward. This cross fell at the feet of Boumassaoudi. The Morocco youth international took a swing immediately, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper De Graaff.
A real final offensive from Young Ajax failed to materialise, meaning there was no more goal of honour. FC Den Bosch won 0-2 against Jong Ajax thanks to two goals from Kacper Kostorz and solid defensive work.
