Fruit and wine festival in St. Marienthal on October 20, 24

St. Marienthal. On Sunday, October 20, 2024, the fruit and wine festival will take place on the grounds of the St. Marienthal Monastery from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year it’s all about insects. While visitors can find out more about bees and beetles, various dealers with a wide range of products invite you to look, browse and buy.

Participating this year are: The monastery winemakers with their own Federweißen and wine in and in front of the wine cellar, the brass band club – Fire Department Melaune e. V., which ensures a sociable and exuberant festive atmosphere, dealer stands offering fruit and fruit products, honey, liqueurs, autumn wreaths, handicrafts made of wood, ceramics and fabric, jewelry and much more. Little guests can pet the cuddly alpacas of the Aktivhof “Lindengut” from Schönau-Berzdorf, have their make-up painted on the monastery grounds and take part in various craft activities. There will also be a fruit display and tasting with over 300 different types of apples and pears. If you want, you can take advantage of the opportunity and have your own apple and pear varieties determined by Saxon pomologists. You should bring at least five ripe fruits of each variety with you.

Shuttle bus for visitors

Due to the road closure of federal highway 99 in Ostritz in the direction of Hirschfelde, a free shuttle bus will also be used this year. This runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. between the Ostritz train station, the market square in Ostritz and the monastery grounds and ensures that visitors can easily get to the festival site. Wheelchair users can also use the minibus. The bus stop at the monastery is not served by public transport.

The fruit and wine festival is organized by the St. Marienthal International Meeting Center Foundation and the Saxon State Foundation for Nature and Environment in collaboration with the Ostritz Winery Association. V. carried out by St. Marienthal.
