Bishop invites you to the commemoration day in the Dresden Cathedral

Dresden. The 80th anniversary of the death of Blessed Alojs Andritzki will be celebrated on Friday, February 3rd. The Sorbian priest was murdered in the Dachau concentration camp in 1943 and beatified as a martyr in Dresden in 2011. Bishop Heinrich Timmerevers celebrates a pontifical mass in the Dresden Cathedral at 6 p.m. on the memorial day of the blessed. “Out of faith, our blessed Alojs Andritzki did not remain silent in the face of injustice during the Nazi regime and risked his life for it. He was so rooted in faith that he did not fear death. He is a witness of faith in our time,” said the bishop.

The faithful are cordially invited to join in the celebration of this Holy Mass. The service is musically designed by the Dresden Kapellknaben – whose prefect was Andritzki. The service ends with a procession and prayer to the martyr’s relic in the aisle of the cathedral.

The service will also be held in Livestream broadcast on the diocese’s YouTube channel.
