Dinosaur fossils in Indonesia are a mystery. Dinosaur fossils have never been found in Indonesia. These ancient animals seemed to have never lived in this region.
Indonesia does have many building fossils to ancient humans detected in its territory. However, there are no traces of this giant ancient animal fossil in Indonesia.
Of course it doesn’t happen without a reason. There is a reason why only the giant ancient animal fossils are not found in Indonesia. Check out why here!

Discovery of Dinosaur Fossils in Indonesia
One of the ancient animals that inhabited the Earth millions of years ago were dinosaurs. They consist of various types and live for quite a long time.
This ancient animal is famous for its large body. It has been millions of years that these animals have become extinct from Earth civilization.
There is no single species of dinosaurs alive today. However, scientists can tell of their existence millions of years ago through their fossilized bones.
You should know that the discovery of the first dinosaur fossils occurred in 1677. At that time, Robert Plot managed to find them, but he thought they were giant human bones.
But William Buckland immediately denied this, a professor of geology at the University of Oxford. He explained that the fossil belonged to a carnivorous lizard.
Until 1824, the fossilized bones in the form of teeth, jaws and limbs were given the name Megalosaurus. Since then, research on fossils has continued, but they have never been detected in Indonesia.
Dinosaur Discovery Area
Scientists estimate dinosaurs lived on Earth about 245 million years ago. The name of this dinosaur itself appears after a British scientist named Richard Owen grouped lizard fossils into the Dinosauria group.
In 2015, it was recorded that there were more than 1,600 identified genera. As an ancient animal, so far many dinosaur fossils have been detected around the Asian Continent.
Apart from that, many scientists have found fossils of these ancient animals in the Serbian region. One thing that is quite surprising is the discovery of fossils that have also occurred on the continent of Asia.

The area of the Asian continent where many dinosaur fossils have been detected is the Gobi Desert, which stretches from southwest China to Iran. The detected fossils, namely Dilong, are around 130 million years old.
Even so, dinosaur fossils in Indonesia have never been seen. Related to this, of course there is a separate reason.
Why Are No Dinosaur Fossils Found in Indonesia?
Dinosaurs are animals that lived in the Mesozoic era. This is an age or period that is included in the process of the development of the Earth.
The Mesozoic Age itself is still divided into two, namely the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous. The Triassic period lasted about 252 to 21 million years ago, while the Jurassic period lasted 201 to 145 million years ago.
In contrast to these two periods, the Cretaceous period lasted from 145 to 66 million years ago. In fact, most of Indonesia’s territory was still under the sea during the Mesozoic era.
The Indonesian mainland was only fully formed around 30 million years ago. This is actually the main reason for the absence of dinosaur fossils in Indonesia.
The time span for the formation of the Indonesian territory with the extinction of the dinosaurs is very long. Thus, there will be no fossils of these ancient animals in this region.
besides that, the territory of Indonesia is also not possible to have dinosaur fossils because of the island’s geological conditions in the form of peatlands. The search for fossils must require great effort at great expense.

Other Ancient Animal Fossils
Although dinosaur fossils in Indonesia have never been detected, in fact there are many other ancient animal fossils.
In Indonesia, fossils of ancient marine reptiles such as Globidens timorensis, Mixosaurus timorensis and Ichtyosaurus ramensis have been detected. Even then, they did not come from the Mesozoic era, but the Cenozoic and also the Quaternary eras.
More than that, Indonesia also has quite famous ancient human fossils. The fact is that the territory of Indonesia that was once part of Eurasia in the Mesozoic era was only Borneo Island.
So, that’s why there has never been a discovery of dinosaur fossils in Indonesia in its history. These ancient animals lived and became extinct long before the Indonesian territory fully surfaced. (R10/HR-Online)
