Ding Yungong, the former Presidential Palace spokesperson, was accused of having sex with a reporter three times in the office and once in the dorm during his tenure as the Kaohsiung City Information Director. The first instance sentence of the Punishment Court sacked Ding Yungong from his post and suspended his appointment for two years. The case was appealed by the Supervisory Yuan and the second instance trial of the Punishment Court was opened.
The Overwatch Council appeal alleged that Ding Yungong’s ad for a photo taken with a reporter constituted sexual harassment and was full of revenge. The reporter’s psychology and work were severely affected and even caused financial difficulties, so she had to ask Ding Yungong for financial assistance. However, the first instance did not confirm this, ignoring the journalist’s subjective feelings and desires, and the whole case was also a case of public attention, which had a profound impact on the rights and interests of women in Taiwan, so she appealed.
Ding Yungong was accused of meeting a reporter because of his working relationship after marrying his wife in 2013. The two parties began dating in 2014 and had a total of 4 sexual intercourse with the reporter in the office of the news director and dormitory. In 2017, the reporter wanted to break up with Ding Yungong, but Ding Yungong posted the intimate photo of her on Facebook which, although she was taken off the shelves in 10 minutes, she was captured and circulated.
