Dinamo’s first training camp this year could take place in two weeks – Sports

The Riga “Dinamo” unit of the Continental Hockey League (KHL), which has not yet managed to hire a new head coach, plans to hold a training camp in two weeks, the portal “Tvnet” clarified on Friday in a conversation with the chairman of the club council.

The information published on the KHL website shows that the people of Riga will carry out in-depth medical examinations on July 14, but already two days later the training camp will start, which is planned until July 30.

“The dates are right. We will go to the training camp in time. Everything will be fine,” Savickis was optimistic in the conversation with the portal, who made it clear that the camp might not take place in Riga.

Candidates for the team’s head coach have been speculated for months, but so far neither specialists nor players have joined the club. The process has taken a long time, as the team’s budget for next season has yet to be agreed.

“Informal work is underway,” Savickis said of the lineup, noting that budget talks are already at the finish line and news about the lineup will follow next week.

However, due to the global pandemic, information was previously reported in the Russian media that Rigans may have to play home games outside Latvia.

“It is too early to judge. Let’s see what the situation will be like then,” said the chairman of the council of Riga “Dinamo”.

Previously, several foreign specialists were invited as candidates for the position of head coach, but “Latvijas Avīze” reported at the beginning of June that Pēteris Skudra would most likely take the helm of the club.

There have also been rumors that several legionnaires will join the team, as well as the experienced Mārtiņš Karsums, who last season together with Kaspars Daugaviņš represented Moscow’s “Spartak”. Oskars Cibulskis, the defender of the Latvian national team, is also considering the possibility to continue his career in Riga.

It is known that striker Deivids Sarkanis, goalkeeper Jānis Voris and defender Uvis Balinskis will not be under the auspices of “Dinamo” next season.

Currently, the contracts are valid only with five young hockey players, of whom Emīls Ģegeris played in the main line-up last season.

KHL in the new season will be one team less (23), because in early April in Vladivostok “Admiral” announced that due to regional austerity, next season will not start in the championship.
