“Dinamo” in the last match of the second away is looking to beat Minsk’s “Dinamo”

Continental Hockey Leagues (KHL) unit Riga “Dinamo” in the last duel of the second trip of this season in the capital of Belarus meets with the local “Dinamo”.

The match between the two teams will start at 16.30 Latvian time and will be broadcast live by the channel “TV3 Sport”.

“Dinamo” this will be the fourth or last game in the second away. In the previous three games, they suffered losses against Kaspars Daugaviņš from the Moscow region “Vitjaz” (1: 6), against the second weakest club of the Western Conference “Sochi” (2: 4), but Helsinki “Jokerit” had to capitulate with 1: 4.

Last Thursday, the Rigans returned to the ranks with large gaps due to the Covid-19 epidemic, filling the gaps with the hockey players of the Youth Hockey League (MHL), and after the post-match litters, they beat the Minsk “Dinamo” with six wins in Riga.

Even before that, in two matches – against the Moscow teams “Dinamo” and CSKA – the Rigans were sentenced to technical losses for not being able to leave the field due to Covid-19 illness, being in quarantine for almost two weeks.

The team still can’t be helped by 11 players, four of whom are “legionnaires” from Canada and one from Russia, such team symbols as Gints Meija, Miķelis Rēdlihs, Kristaps Sotnieks, as well as Kristaps Zīle.

Meanwhile, the Minsk team has only been left without points once in the last five dues after the great start of the season. Chelyabinsk’s Traktor won 3: 2 in the bulls, Cherepovets’ Severstall won 4: 1, but the bulls lost 3: 4 to the Rigans. After that, the Minsk unit lost to Sochi 1: 2, while in the last match, Beijing’s Kununun Red Star won 2: 0.

A lot of hockey players will not be able to help the Minsk team in Sunday’s match either. Among the nine players on the injured list is one of the leaders of the attack, Ryan Spooner of Canada, and his compatriot Brandon Kozun. Four of the hockey players on the injured list are Belarusians, two represent Canada, and one each from Russia, the United States and Sweden.

Both teams have met 45 times in the KHL championship, of which the Rigans have been superior in 23 cases. Last year, both teams met four times, but in only one match were the Minsk “Dinamo” hockey players superior.

After the game in Minsk, the Riga club will return to Latvia to play a series of three home games.

“Dinamo” with five points in 11 games ranks last among 11 Western Conference teams, ahead of only Beijing’s Red Star in the entire league, while Minsk with 19 points in 13 dues is third.

Nine hockey players and two staff members have previously been reported to be infected with Covid-19 Dinamo.

Last season, Dinamo took the penultimate place in the Western Conference and in the entire league, not qualifying for the Gagarin Cup for the sixth year in a row.
