Chairman of the Advisory Council (Wantim) of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) 2015-2020 Din Syamsuddin open a voice regarding his name not included in the 2020-2025 management structure. He said that because he didn’t want to.
“That I am not included in the new MUI management is because I am not willing. If the Formation Team does submit then I am not willing,” said Din in a written statement received. CNNIndonesia.com, Saturday (28/11).
Before the National Conference X was held, he stated that he had expressed his desire to stop being active from MUI during the Plenary Meeting of the Advisory Council which was held on 18 November.
One of the reasons for stopping it, he said, was because he felt he had been involved in MUI for a long time, namely since 1995.
“In this connection I apologize to all members of Wantim MUI who support me to continue leading Wantim MUI,” he said.
Furthermore, he also explained the reasons for not attending the MUI National Conference and represented the Deputy Chairman of Wantim MUI, Didin Hafiduddin, to give a speech and become a formatur.
“Actually there is a reason, that I heard and found out that there are parties who want to be the Head of Wantim MUI, and the Manager of MUI. I dihusnuzhon they want to serve in the MUI, so it is better to be given the opportunity,” he said.
The MUI X National Conference which was held in Jakarta on November 25-27 is known to have officially established the new management for the 2020-2025 period.
In the Xth National Conference, Miftachul Akhyar was elected as the new MUI chairman replacing Ma’ruf Amin’s position. Meanwhile Ma’ruf joined the MUI management as chairman of the advisory council. He replaced Din Syamsuddin.
In addition, Munas X MUI also appointed Amirsyah Tambunan as general secretary. Amirsyah replaces Anwar Abbas.
