It has been removed, thelittle altar in St. Bartholomew’s Squarededicated to a stray cat who was wandering around the neighborhood. The choice of traffic police is legitimate. The structure was illegal. Animal rights activists did not take it well. There were many protests on social media. Much mockery of politicians. The standoff begins Tuesday. Vito Ciccarone (former hospital driver), author of the altar in memory of the feline, is approached by the police and asked to remove it: «Among all the abuses that exist, has the photo of Bartolomeo (that was the name of the cat, ed.) become the problem of this city?». All hell broke loose. Lots of comments.
The reactions
«The cat was killed a few days ago». He was the neighborhood feline. He wandered around the shops. He was fed and watered by animal rights activists. A feline mascot, right in the center. «This is why we wanted to remember him. Also to give a message to today’s kids who don’t respect animals» explains Ciccarone. The traffic police were peremptory. The altar had to be removed. Get out of the animalist spirit. Many applauded, many protested. «Now that the cat altar has been removed, let’s eliminate the other abuses“, is the citizens’ invitation. And here the skin of traffic policemen and politicians went shivering.
