Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo, as his full name was, joined the NBA in 1991 and for the next 18 years became one of the most important figures in the league, playing as a center for the Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks and Houston Rockets.

After retiring, Mutombo became involved in charity work, establishing a foundation whose aim was to improve the health, education and quality of life of the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where he came from. Thanks to her activities, in Kinshasa, among others, hospital.
