Urbanalis press release of June 2, 2021:

Threat of deportation for Abdramane, resident of Urbanalis

Originally from Mali, Abdramane DIARRA arrived in France in Dijon in 2017 at the age of 16. Followed by the Côte-d’Or departmental council until he was 18, he has been financially independent ever since. Today in an irregular situation on the territory, the young Malian is however perfectly integrated in his professional and personal life.

A residence permit constantly refused

As soon as he came of age, Abdramane Diarra applied for a residence permit. While waiting for the decision, he chained the receipts ranging from 3 to 6 months of validity. Until August 7, 2020 when his renewal is refused: he receives an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). Since that day, he has been fighting with his lawyer to appeal to the administrative court of Dijon. He goes so far as to have his birth certificate authenticated by going to the consulate of his country, and also receives a certificate of authenticity. However, he can still continue to work as an apprentice.

On May 5, 2021, the court’s decision falls: his request is rejected. Among other reasons mentioned: the NINA number (national identification number) missing on the birth certificate extract, which is currently not mandatory in Mali. Abdramane has therefore just appealed the decision to the Lyon administrative court. Pending the decision, he can no longer work and is still in an irregular situation. The young Malian does not sleep at night and sees his future collapsing.

Despite successful integration

Abdramane is nevertheless deserving and has done everything to integrate professionally and personally. In preparation for a CAP Bac Pro Travaux Publics at the Lycée des Marcs d’Or in Dijon, all his teachers as well as the director congratulate him for his seriousness and exemplary behavior. Apprentice in the public works company Désertot, his superiors are very satisfied with his work. They have promised him a permanent contract for the future and want him to become team leader.

Until now residing at the home of young workers Urbanalis, he has always been exemplary in his behavior and in the payment of his rents. His situation affects the whole team a lot, trying to motivate him not to give up hope.
