Two imams and an association president went to meet Roland Minnerath to convey “all their fraternity and express the full solidarity of Muslims with their Catholic friends following the tragic attack on the Basilica of Our Lady of Nice.”

Communiqué of the diocese of Dijon of November 2, 2020:

Three representatives of the Muslim faith meet Bishop Minnerath

Three representatives of the Muslim faith met Bishop Roland Minnerath, archbishop of the diocese of Dijon, this Monday afternoon at the archdiocese of Dijon. Mohamed Ateb, president of the Muslim Youth Association of France in Burgundy, Elmustapha Ezzahraouy, imam of the Grésilles mosque in Dijon and Abvesmem Nechachi, imam of the rue Charles Dumont mosque in Dijon expressed their solidarity with the Catholic community of the diocese more to the murderous attack in Nice last Thursday.

All three condemned the terrorist acts which have brought mourning to France recently.

Many messages of support

Previously, our Archbishop had received condolences from Simon Sibony, Chief Rabbi of Dijon, Pastors Assan Merabti and Michel Marvane as well as a message of support from Fabien Sudry, Prefect of Côte-d’Or and Bourgogne-Franche- Comté, a call from François Sauvadet, president of the Departmental Council of Côte-d’Or, and a letter from François Rebsamen, mayor of Dijon.

This All Saints weekend, a number of the faithful went to mass in order, in particular, to pray for the victims of the recent attacks.
