Relegated from the top flight last season, Dijon FCO took too long to get rid of the negative dynamics of the descent at the start of the season. « We were in a certain slump, we had to get back on our feet and it’s good that the machine is moving forward again. The group has nothing to do with the one from last year. There is a project, there have been ups and downs. Now we have to continue to finish the season as best as possible and that way we can think about next season quietly. […] At the start of the season, it may have seemed unambitious to say that it was a transition season. We have to be realistic. it takes a lot of hard work, team cohesion… Of course, we’re all impatient. most people who come to Gaston-Gérard remember Ligue 1, a certain atmosphere, a way of playing. But today, we are in Ligue 2 and we are in reconstruction. We have just spent five years in Ligue 1, the ambition is always the same: that of going back within three years. There, we have just had a season. Next, we will continue to improve this group. There will surely be some changes. Maybe four-five players. Some may be leaving, others are at the end of their contract. You always have to improve. When we came back, the previous exercise, we had finished 4th. The one after, we had changed eight players and we had gone up (2015-2016, editor’s note). »
On the coach, Patrice Garande: “ He is a competitor and an ambitious person. There may have been some frustration given the results where we could have tipped into the first part of the table and failed to do so. Today, we are all back on a good dynamic. »
