Dijon (Côte-d’Or) received the “Educational City” label, awarded at the Interministerial Committee of the City on January 29 in Grenoble. A total of 74 new winners, including two other communes in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté: Nevers (Nièvre) and Joigny (Yonne).
Dijon receives label “Educational City”. The Interministerial Committee for the City, which met on January 29, enabled 74 municipalities to receive this label. Nevers (Nièvre) and Joigny (Yonne) are also among the winners.
In Côte-d’Or, this new educational city is jointly supported by the City of Dijon and the National Education services. They are thus seeking to strengthen the cooperation of educational actors in priority districts, in this case Grésilles and Fontaine d’Ouche.
According to the prefecture of Côte-d’Or, this project must also promote the involvement of parents in the educational success of their child. The objective is also to support children and adolescents in the different stages of life. The financial resources made available by the State will be specified shortly.
Dijon, Nevers and Joigny therefore join Chenove in the very exclusive club of Burgundian cities labeled as educational cities.
The first educational city was born in Grigny (Essonne) in 2017. The idea was to create educational care for children and young people from birth to professional integration.
In 2018, the project spread throughout France, under the impetus of the Government. 80 educational cities are finally labeled in 2019. They then concern 525,000 young people, from 0 to 25 years old.
In total, for the period 2019-2022, no less than 230 million euros have been mobilized by the Ministry of the City for this project.
