“Dijon Nationalist Group Causes Controversy at DFCO Football Match”

The DFCO footballers faced FC Annecy on their pitch last Saturday. In the “visitor” stand of the Annecy Sports Park, occupied by DFCO supporters, a white flag with the red Cross of Burgundy flew next to a French flag and that of Burgundy. This famous flag is not insignificant since it is the emblem of the Dijon Nationalist identity group (which would have changed its name and would now be called the Infréquentables de Dijon). Posted behind, a dozen men, shaved heads and black t-shirts with a logo. A presence that questions.

“We defend Dijon and we remain a faf group”

According to our information, the DFCO would have learned a few hours before the meeting, that this ultra-right group, which bought its places at the counter, would be in the stands. To avoid any overflow, four security guards would have been in charge of watching them in the stadium. On a story Instagram of Infréquentables de Dijon , we see a photo of the group, from behind, in the stadium with a precision in the caption: “We are not a football group, we are not defending the DFCO and its stadium. So no need to get carried away, we defend Dijon and we remain a faf group with the friendships we have with the different groups from each city”.

If during the meeting, no problem was reported, a fight between this group and supporters of Annecy broke out outside the Sports Park. But she was quickly stopped by the police, who carried out a dozen identity checks.

In Dijon, the group had been talked about at the end of January 2021. A muscular altercation had taken place between identitarians (Nationalist Dijon and Vandal Besak) and feminist activists of the Collective of November 25, who organized a counter-rally at the same time as a demonstration of opponents to the extension of PMA (medically assisted procreation), place de la République.

Recently, some members would also have participated in the demonstration of the ultra-right in Paris, last Saturday, which caused controversy. Would the Burgundian group seek to be more visible? The question is valid. In the meantime, on the side of the DFCO, vigilance is required. So far, no identity has appeared in the stands of the Gaston-Gérard stadium. And stewards are trained to identify racist, neo-Nazi and ultranationalist symbols.
