LThe death of a 77-year-old woman at the university hospital of Dijon (Côte-d’Or) prompted the opening of an investigation. According to information from Good audience transmitted by Southwest, the Dijon Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation on August 31, following a complaint by the family of the deceased. He denounces the lack of care provided to the 70-year-old by the hospital’s health workers. In the complaint, the family accuses the hospital of “abuse”.

The patient, who was treated by the CHU for a fibula fracture, had to be operated on on an empty stomach inside the CHU. But the surgery, considered not “priority” by doctors, would have been postponed several times. A sign was posted in front of his door indicating that he was to fast. According to the family’s complaint, the 77-year-old woman remained hungry for several days in her hospital room. Suffering from malnutrition, she fell into a coma before dying on August 31st.

The results of the autopsy are awaited

Waiting for his intervention, the patient would therefore not have been fed by the hospital staff. She reportedly complained about her treatment with her daughter on her phone, saying she had not yet been fed. An autopsy was performed to understand the circumstances of the death, Dijon prosecutor told France 3 Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The University Hospital of Dijon, for the moment, has not ruled on the case.
