Dijon. Future hydrogen vehicles in the spotlight at COP 26

100 million euros of investment

The city will gradually acquire hydrogen vehicles. The first four buses will circulate from 2022 on the streets of the city with a ramp-up until 2030. “The objective of Dijon metropolis is to renew its entire fleet of heavy hydrogen vehicles, ie the 44 household refuse dumpsters and the 180 buses in the metropolis”.

The first hydrogen station, located in Les Charmettes, north-west of Dijon, will be commissioned in early 2022. The second, located south of Dijon, will be commissioned in 2023.

Switching to hydrogen will cost the city 100 million euros, 20 million for the construction of the hydrogen factory and 80 million to renew the fleet of garbage trucks and buses.

Unexpected encounters

In Glasgow, the vice-president for ecological transition attended several conferences and spoke with French and foreign delegations. “I met young French-speaking Africans who carry, on their shoulders, the words and actions of young people all over the world ”, explains Patric Masson. I have seen people of extinction rebellion who do not necessarily have a good press, but who have an interesting speech ”.

Innovative initiatives have also aroused his interest: “I saw that Indonesia made bamboo bicycles to use a local resource and limit the use of metals which have a much greater ecological impact. My role is to go and see what others are doing and to be inspired by a certain number of their practices ”. Examples, to follow or not, but ideas gathered by the chosen one.

Dijon has applied to become European Green Capital 2022.
