Dijon will try its luck again if it fails

Beyond the positive impact on the image of the city, this distinction is materialized by a bonus of 350,000 euros. Dijon had already applied in 2018 and finished in fourth place. If it doesn’t win the title this year, the city has already planned to run again.

“We’re going to win. And if we didn’t win, if we were second for example, we would re-apply. Because it is tenacity that characterizes us, Dijon PS mayor François Rebsamen said in a video posted on social networks on Wednesday, October 7. We have all the assets to become the green capital of Europe. A lot of effort is being made, not only to adapt to climate change but also to fight against climate change. And that’s what will make the difference, I believe. “

To apply, a city must have more than 100,000 inhabitants and be part of the member countries of the European Union, candidate countries to join the Union (Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey), or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland.
