While the places put on sale were in high demand, the president of Agir pour Dijon noted that each municipal elected official was allocated two places for the show at the Zénith.
Press release from Agir pour Dijon of December 6, 2023:
We discovered with surprise last evening that all the municipal councilors of the city of Dijon were each reserved two places for the Miss France 2024 evening, which will be held at the Zénith on December 16.
According to the partnership agreement validated by the municipal council on September 25, 2023, which we voted for, the city had to market at least 3,300 places at a price of €80, the company Miss France being at the same time allocated 1,300 places, for its invitations or for marketing for its own benefit.
This price should make it possible to minimize the net cost for the city of hosting the Miss France evening. Tickets were sold out in record time on October 18 at 6 p.m. Tickets were curiously put back on sale on November 13 at 6 p.m., without being able to satisfy all the requests.
However, we asked, during the debate in the municipal council, that the arrangements for marketing the places be communicated in complete transparency.
The allocation of places for the benefit of elected officials has never been mentioned, neither in committee, nor during the debate, nor since that date.
With 59 municipal councilors and a price set at €80, there is potentially 158 places, for a total value of €9,440.
It is perfectly legitimate that the city is represented on a ceremonial basis by a few elected officials. Note in this regard that the Miss France company undertakes, in the convention, to provide free of charge 10 invitations to the city, giving access to the cocktail following the show. Any additional place requested by the city, subject to availability, would be charged €80.
On the other hand, the allocation of places to all elected officials is questionable. Two places per elected official is even more difficult to justify from the point of view of the general interest.
Should we recall in this regard that the charter of local elected officials, adopted by the city of Dijon, requires a declaration to the ethics officer of all gifts or invitations with a value greater than €150?
We therefore ask the municipality to be completely transparent on the marketing of places, on the allocation of places to elected officials as well as on the motivations for this decision.
