BUSTO ARSIZIO – Yoga, crochet and flower message to restore dignity to women who live “hidden” in shelter homes after having suffered abuse and violence. Once a week for six monthsthanks to the network that E.va OdV has built in the area, women will be able to go out, in protected and unknown places, to do activities and have a moment of dialogue with the managers of the anti-violence centre. «But let’s not call them victims: they are fighters, women who are rebuilding themselves – he claims the councilor for social inclusion Paola Reguzzoni – other than comfortable and paid accommodation, in the shelter they give up everything.”
The project
Is called “Creative mind-speaking” the new challenge of E.va OdV aimed at victims of violence who are hosted in shelter homes of the Baobab cooperative and the Felicita Morandi Foundation. There are eight in total, and thanks to the collaboration of the Lions Club Busto Arsizio Lombardia, Motoclub SS33 Sempione, the Bhaga Yoga school, the San Carlo Institute and the “Chasing a thread” group, as well as the municipal administration, from next November 5th they will have access to a series of targeted activities once a week for six months. A yoga session and a crochet sessionactivities that free the mind and encourage socialization, followed by “word groups” managed by the E.va coordinator Cinzia Di Pilla with the psychotherapist Valentina Manias it’s with the facilitator Debora Fregonibut also therapeutic holistic massages with Bach flowers (individual, organized by Istituto San Carlo) to relax the body.
The voices
«A transversal project that involves women from a practical, psychological and self-care point of view – summarizes councilor Paola Reguzzoni – it is a re-education in self-love». «It is a project in response to the need that society is transmitting to us regarding episodes of violence – he adds the president of E.va OdV Emilia Barni – the women who had the strength to report have a face and a voice: the fact that they can tell their stories and support each other is help that is given to all services. It makes a sense of belonging and solidarity so as not to feel alone». She is the coordinator and founder of the anti-violence center Cinzia Di Pilla: «The numbers of feminicides, the tip of the iceberg, don’t actually increase much, but we don’t talk about the numbers underneath them. The 1700 women to whom we gave help and assistance in these years. Like that 19-year-old girl, seven months pregnant, who after an hour of yoga felt the baby move in her belly for the first time. Yoga brought out her discomfort.”
Hope and dignity
«They are women who say “I am invisible” – reveals Di Pilla – they end up in shelter homes because they have no alternatives to protect their lives. They cannot have a telephone or see relatives, they live in frustrating and alienating conditions. It takes months to reconnect them with the world without putting them in danger.” And it is precisely them that this initiative is aimed at, which gives hope and dignity. «When we welcome them they are “rags”, destroyed from a physical point of view and isolated from society, disoriented and devoid of dignitywith a sense of guilt towards the children – he adds Simona Giavaramanager of the Baobab cooperative – this it is a project that makes women the protagonist of one’s life.” And the Harley riders of the Motoclub SS33 Sempione, the “angels” led by the president Raffaele De Nicolathey will transport them to the protected places where the activities will take place.
