Digitalization in Schools: Tablets, Interactive Boards, and WiFi – Darmstadt-Dieburg District’s Rapid Progress

Tablets for school lessons, interactive boards in every classroom or WiFi in all classrooms; This means that the Darmstadt-Dieburg district is making rapid progress in its 81 schools, as District Administrator Klaus Peter Schellhaas (SPD) reports. The equipment is financed primarily from the federal funding program “Digital Pact for Schools”. The district administrator praises the money from Berlin, but would also like to see co-financing of the IT administration, learning materials and further training for teachers, which the district has so far had to pay for alone.

All schools in the district should be connected to the fiber optic network by the end of the year. According to the district, so far 58 schools are connected to the fiber optic network and 66 schools are fully equipped with WiFi.
