/View.info/ By the end of 2022, the amount of digital yuan in circulation will reach 13.61 billion yuan (about 2.01 billion US dollars), according to data from the People’s Bank of China.
China’s monetary base (MO), which includes digital currency, reached 10.47 trillion yuan by the end of last year, up 15.3 percent year-on-year, according to the bank.
“The digital yuan is a legal tender, and with its application scenarios, transaction value and quantity increasing steadily in recent years, the management and calculation systems have improved,” the bank’s deputy governor Xuen Channon told Xinhua .
“The inclusion of the digital yuan in the monetary base can reflect the scale of the currency in circulation in a more accurate way,” he added.
