Our country shines on the international digital scene. In the global final of the ICT competition organized by Huawei, the young representatives of Madagascar won the second prize, against 146 teams from 36 countries.
A long journey full of hope. This is how we can sum up the months spent by the six representatives of Madagascar, within the framework of the Huawei ICT Competition. From the regional phase, bringing together the best candidates from the Sub-Saharan Africa region, the Malagasy teams were ranked among the first, which enabled them to access the world final which took place in Shenzhen, China, from May 24-27. Note that the Big Island is at its second participation for this year, if the competition is already in its seventh edition. At the world final of the 2022-2023 season, two Malagasy teams shone, one in the Network Track category and the other in the Cloud Track category. The award and closing ceremony took place on May 27. After the announcement of the Grand Prize and the First Prize, the names of the Malagasy teams were proclaimed to have won the Second Prize, in their respective categories. Out of the four categories (Cloud, Network, Computing and Innovation), the country is now recognized in the Cloud and Network categories. The two Malagasy teams were honored during the awards ceremony, preceded by a great show worthy of digital leaders, and the keynote speech delivered by Xiao Haijun, President of Global Partner Development and Sales , Huawei Enterprise Business Group.
Support for young talents
For this 2022-2023 edition, the competition attracted students from more than 2000 universities, from 74 countries and regions. More than 400 students stood out in national and regional competitions, and participated in the world final in Shenzhen to have the place of the best of the best in ICT solutions. Note that this edition was held under the theme “Connection, Honor, Future” and the slogan “IC The Future”. For the organizers, it is about creating an international competition and communication platform for students from universities and colleges around the world.
Challenge
According to the Malagasy participants, the D-Day of the laboratory examinations for the national team took place all day on May 24, for 8 hours in a row. For the Cloud and Network teams, this was the last stage of this competition. “It’s really what you call a world final, 8 hours of lab practice seemed so short. It was very challenging, but we gave our best. We prepared well.” said Alan, member of the Network Track team, at the end of this last event. In addition, all contest participants received a guided tour of the headquarters of the global telecommunications giant, including Songshan Lake and Huawei’s Darwin Hall in Shenzhen.
