Hanau, Offenbach and the Main-Kinzig district are shopping together. In Hanau alone, the schools are to be equipped with 900 displays.
The cities of Hanau and Offenbach as well as the Main-Kinzig-Kreis want to promote the digitization of their schools together in inter-municipal cooperation. A corresponding framework agreement has just been signed. Digital boards (displays) are to be installed in schools across the board. In Hanau, according to a press release from the city, 900 displays with a value of 4.5 million euros are going to the city schools. There they are to replace the previous boards “in the next four years”; the first are to be installed during the summer holidays. The digital devices are financed with funds from the DigitalPact School and municipal funds.
The communal merger makes it possible to obtain better prices, according to the announcement. The Europe-wide call for tenders “usually lasts six to eight months”. “We are making very good progress in connecting schools to the fiber optic network and expanding internal school networks,” says Hanau’s school director, Axel Weiss-Thiel (SPD). The digital infrastructure is currently being created in all schools, cables are being laid, sockets and network sockets are being set up, and WLAN access points are being set up. “Now we are equipping the schools with appropriate presentation devices that will replace the conventional boards.” Bil
