The Science and Education Innovation Center (ZIIC) of the Liepāja City Education Board opens applications for the fourth thematic week of the school summer vacation “Digital production”, which will be implemented from July 11 to 14 and will be suitable for future third and fourth grade students, informs ZIIC education methodologist Justīne Rusakova.
During the thematic days, every participant will get an insight into working with such equipment as a laser cutter, 3D printer, plotter and other digital production equipment. The acquired knowledge and skills will be sufficient to be able to take the first steps in digital production with the aim of making an object of your choice.
It was already announced that the Science and Education Innovation Center has started to specialize in digital production and the specific equipment is located at Klāva Ukstiņa street 17/23, which the municipality plans to develop in the future as a block of modern education. Participation in the thematic week can be considered a kind of unique opportunity, because the Science and Education Innovation Center has not yet opened its doors to the general public at the new place of operation.
As part of the thematic week “Digital production”, for a deeper understanding of where digital production equipment is found in the labor market, the participants will go on an excursion to JSC “Liepājas papiris”, which produces stickers and labels of various types and designs, which we find in our shopping carts every day. On the other hand, at SIA “InPass” everyone will be able to find out how digital and physical information technology (IT) systems are created. Also, participants will be allowed to take a look at the electric scooter production facility of SIA “Global Wolf Motors”, where the results of digital production equipment are integrated into world-renowned vehicles.
At the end of the thematic week, every participant will have gained not only an insight into digital production, but also learned electronics, work safety in working with specialized equipment and made something personalized with their own hands.
The classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the ZIIC location, Ukstiņa street 17/23, Liepāja. The weekly participation fee is 40 euros (including VAT).
