(Reuters) – Discount shoppers bought more Pokemon cards, TVs and air fryers on Cyber Monday (Digital Monday), data from Adobe (NASDAQ:) Analytics showed, pushing sales to 11.3 billions, the largest online shopping day in the US. history.

According to data from Adobe Analytics, which measures e-commerce performance by analyzing purchases at 85% of the top 100 online retailers in the US, sales adjusted for inflation increased by 5.8%.

And while retailers began offering promotions and discounts as early as October to lure shoppers, shoppers, largely weary of inflation, have postponed shopping to holidays like Black Friday and Digital Monday in hopes of snagging the best deals. offers.

Major retailers, such as Target (NYSE:), Macy’s and Best Buy, have indicated that there is a return to pre-pandemic shopping models and a need to offer greater discounts during traditional one-day shopping events.

And according to the Adobe Analytics report, children’s games were the most popular on Digital Monday, Cyber Monday or Cyber Monday, as their online sales increased nearly eight times compared to an average day in October 2022.

Sales of electronic devices have increased almost fivefold, while sports equipment, sports equipment and books have also seen an increase of more than 400%.

The report added that Pokemon cards, Hot Wheels, PlayStation 5s, smart TV screens, and Apple (NASDAQ:) AirPods are among the top sellers.

Shopify, which provides online payment services, said on Tuesday that merchants using its platform saw record sales of $7.5 billion globally from Black Friday to Digital Monday.

Some experts believe that the improvement in sales on Digital Monday does not prove that the burden of inflation is reducing its impact on consumer confidence.

“Online shopping still accounts for only about 15 percent of total retail sales. So it’s not necessarily a very good indicator of the overall health of the economy,” said Dan North, chief economist at Allianz (TADAWUL:) Trade North America.
