Barbra Streisand believes that the most recent remake of “A Star Is Born” (a star is born), with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, was ‘the wrong idea’ in the choice of its protagonists, since in her opinion the film was ‘too similar’ to the previous version, which she starred alongside Kris Kristofferson, in a 1976 remake.
Initially the film would star Beyoncé and Will Smith, but something happened and Gaga and Cooper echoed the project.
In an interview with Australia’s The Sunday Project, Barbra has said that Beyoncé and Will would have made the film much more ‘interesting’ ‘, as she believes that the final version of the 2018 film was too similar to her own version.
“At first, when I heard it was going to be done again, it was supposed to be Will Smith and Beyoncé, and I thought, that’s interesting. To really do it differently again, different kind of music, integrated actors, I thought it was a great idea. So, I was surprised to see how similar it was to the version I made, “he lamented.
Barbra went on to say that she ‘thought it was the wrong idea’ for the remake, but ‘can’t argue with the success’ the film had in grossing € 400 million at the box office.
