WhatsApp is experimenting and even adding new features every now and then and this is bound to continue. Meta’s proprietary messaging platform is now expected to roll out a new feature for iOS users that will help them copy text from images. Sound like a handy feature? Read on to learn more about it.
WhatsApp is working on new text recognition feature
WhatsApp has released a new iOS beta update version 23.5.77 that includes the ability to extract text from the shared photos. If you have heard about a similar feature, you must know that this is one of the iOS 16 features. This is called Live Text and can help you copy, look up, or even share text from videos and photos.
The same features have been extended to WhatsApp using the iOS 16 API and You can even translate the text if needed. We’re not sure if this also works for WhatsApp videos. The WABetaInfo Message claims the feature has rolled out to some stable users, along with the ability to send voice statuses. However, I haven’t been able to use it yet. We expect a gradual rollout. You can read below how this will look like.
For those who don’t know, the recently introduced language statuses began to be widespread for iOS users. After the update, a microphone icon now appears under the Create State option in the States tab. You can hold it to record the audio and once you are happy with the result you can post it as a disappearing story.
When this ability will finally be available to everyone remains to be seen. We will keep you informed about this. So stay tuned. In the meantime, share your thoughts on this upcoming ability and whether you like it or not in the comments below.
