The Druze monotheistic sect in Lebanon is going through difficult hours after the announcement that Sheikh Abu Fayez Amin Makarem wore the wrapped turban without receiving the approval and blessing of the head of the spiritual body, Sheikh Amin Al-Sayegh, as foreseen by the system and religious costume of the monotheistic sect.
The wrapped turban is considered the highest religious rank among the Druze, and no one may be commissioned to wear it except through a cleric who wears it and with his approval. to place the wrapped turban on his forehead.
Hundreds of Druze clerics from Rashaya, Hasbaya, Chouf and Metn flocked to Sheikh Al-Sayegh’s house to report the incident, especially since the head of the spiritual body has returned to wearing the ordinary turban worn by the Druze general clergy.
A great state of anger prevails, due to the fact that the decision to “dress” Sheikh Makarem is a politician intended to ensure a spiritual umbrella for the head of the “Progressive Socialist” party, Walid Jumblatt and his son Timur, especially since the former has fallen in a quarrel with the spirit body after goading him to appoint Sami Sheikh Abi Al-Muna as sheikh of the mind despite his opposition from senior Druze clerics to this step and their insistence on electing a consensual sheikh who is unaffiliated with any political party, so that it can unify the Druze ranks and bring them closer together.
Furthermore, Sheikh Al-Sayegh’s positions rejecting the characterization of the Druze occupation in occupied Palestine after the issue of Bishop Musa Al-Hajj, and his call on the Druze of Syria not to bet on external support to resist their state and his call to complete intra-sect reconciliations due to Choueifat and Kabarshmoun’s troubles in order to unify its ranks increased the rift with the selected leader.
In detail, Sheikh Abu Muhammad Salih Al-Andari contacted Sheikh Al-Sayegh regarding assigning Sheikh Makarim to wear the monotheistic turban, but did not get the required approval to proceed with the switch. , the main focus, from their point of view, revolves around the need to have a sheik loyal to Jumblatt in the spirit body and wearing the turban so that the chosen one is not said to be suffering from spiritual isolation.
According to information, it was agreed to instruct a group of clerics to visit Sheikh Makarim and inform him that it is not permissible to wear muklisah in this way, and that spiritual satisfaction with him is higher and more important than political satisfaction, precisely because it is not permissible to anger the clergy in the hope of the approval of a party boss or deputy.
