Difficult patient distribution affects Albert Schweitzer hospital | Inland

Currently, the Albert Schweitzer hospital actually only accommodates nine corona patients in the regular clinic and three in intensive care. If more corona patients come in, they should in principle be moved to other hospitals. But the hospital now has thirty admitted corona patients.

“Spreading has not worked well in recent days. Not all our applications will be honored, ”says Chairman of the Board Peter van der Meer. “We don’t know why, but we cannot wait for national decision-making. We are going to scale up corona care ourselves and are forced to discontinue some regular care. ”

‘Nursing ward in particular under pressure’

The hospital also reports that the pressure on the intensive care department is still manageable. Van der Meer: “During the first wave, the ic capacity was a critical factor. It seems that the second wave will again demand a lot from the nursing wards. ”

The Jeroen Bosch Hospital in Den Bosch also reported on Tuesday that it is closing four of its fourteen operating theaters and Gelre Hospitals will reduce 10 percent of the regular care in Apeldoorn. The Dutch Healthcare Authority already expressed its concerns on Tuesday about the difficult spread of corona patients through hospitals in the Randstad.
