INFONAVIT’s new scheme does not grant credit to workers.
—
Contrary to what the INFONAVIT beneficiaries expect, in relation to the acquisition of land with the use of their credit, they will not be able to access it except exclusively by saving the housing sub-account.
Raúl Fortuni Sánchez, former President of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals in Matamoros, pointed out that practically the workers have little money in the INFONAVIT savings sub-account, so they will not be able to buy the land.
He also said that the land to be acquired must be located in a subdivision where there are green areas and other requirements, even apparently they will not be able to buy properties in popular neighborhoods.
“It is practically very difficult for a worker to reach with his savings in the INFONAVIT sub account, to buy land that may have a value of 200 thousand pesos, to cite an example, because he would probably only have 100 thousand pesos,” he said.
He explained that precisely the workers look for different options according to their budget to solve the housing problem, however, the requirements in each of the INFONAVIT products are in some cases complicated and do not meet them, so that they remain in uncertainty .
Even using a loan to build on their own land, in that product the worker does not receive even a peso, but the construction company is paid, hence new changes are expected in 2021, he added.
The interviewee regretted that EL INFONAVIT implements new products and that history repeats itself and that in the end these programs become obsolete, as happened with CAMBIAVIT.
