Suara.com – Since the beginning of the pandemic Covid-19Experts have been trying to figure out how the virus affects children, tracking cases to see the severity of the disease as well as complications and long-term effects on children.
Sometimes, the results are contradictory and given the unpredictable nature of the disease, it is also confusing.
Now, researchers from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in the US have found that children and adults produce the types and quantities of antibody different in response to infection corona virus.
According to studies published in journals Nature Immunology of these, antibody differences indicate the course of infection SARS-CoV-2 and the immune response varies from child to child. Most children also easily get rid of the virus from their bodies.

Covid-19 produces the same antibody profile
Among the 47 children in the study, 16 were treated for multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children or multisystem inflammation syndrome in children (MIS-C) and 31 children who were positive for Covid-19 had other conditions.
Both groups of children produced the same antibody profiles, whether they had severe or mild Covid-19, in contrast to cases in adults.
Even so, less antibodies are produced to fight the corona virus spike protein.

Children’s antibodies have little neutralizing activity, while all adults, including young adults in their 20s, produce neutralizing antibodies.
Adults who have severe Covid-19 also have the most neutralizing antibody activity.
This shows that the corona virus infection is actually not very widespread and does not kill many children’s cells.
