Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, This month will be your first month; it will be the first month of the year for you. Speak to all the congregation of Israel, and say, On the tenth day of this month, they will take a lamb for each family, and a lamb for each house. If the house is too few for a lamb, take it with its nearest neighbor, according to the number of people; you will count for this lamb according to what each can eat. It will be a lamb without blemish, male, one year old; you can take a lamb or a kid. You will keep it until the fourteenth day of this month; and all the assembly of Israel shall sacrifice it between the two evenings.
And they will take some of his blood, and put it on the two posts and on the lintels of the doors of the houses, where it is to be eaten. That same night, the flesh will be eaten, roasted over a fire; it will be eaten with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. You will not eat it half cooked and boiled in water; but it will be roasted in the fire, with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. It is the Passover of the Lord.
The lamb slain on the night of the Passover in Egypt, his life was taken from him by force, he suffered death. However, his blood, applied in faith, saved many families from death once, but only during one night.
Our “lamb” or the Lamb of God, Jesus himself offered himself, he allowed himself to be sacrificed out of love and obedience, to be our eternal Passover.
The blood of the lamb offered at the first Passover only had an effect for once, one night.
The blood of Jesus, for 2000 years still has the same power to give life. The blood of Jesus, or of the slain Lamb, has already saved a great number of believers all over the world, men and women of all tribes, of all languages and of all races.
In his vision of Revelation, the apostle John tells us: “And behold, there was a great crowd, whom no one could number”
Romans 5: 9-10: Much more then, now that we are justified by his blood will we be saved by him from wrath.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his son, much more, being reconciled, we will be saved by his life.
The covenant of the blood of Jesus
The supper instituted by Jesus on the last evening fulfills and gives all their meaning to the words of Jesus contained in:
John 6-53 to 58: Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of man, and if you do not drink his blood, you have not life. in yourselves.
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood to eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is truly food, and my blood is drink.
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live through the Father, so he who eats me will live through me.
This is the bread that came down from heaven. It is not like your fathers who ate manna and died: whoever eats this bread will live forever.
The last plague, in Egypt, corresponds to the judgment of an Egyptian god. By faith, and in obedience to the word of God. The Hebrews applied the blood of the slain lamb to the lintels of the doors of their dwelling houses:
Exodus 12-7 and 13: And they will take some of his blood, and put it on the two posts and on the lintels of the doors of the houses, where it is to be eaten.
The blood will serve you as a sign on the houses where you will be; I will see the blood, and I will pass over you, and there shall be no plague to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.
The Hebrews were saved from death and came out of Egypt.
Likewise, the death of the sacrificed Lamb of God, Jesus, results in the judgment of the one who established himself as the “ god of this age ” or the prince of the air.
Now we are delivered from the grip of sin, from eternal death. At least for us who believe and practice these things.
Colossians 2-14-15: He blotted out the act of which the ordinances condemned us and which remained against us, and he removed it by nailing it to the cross;
He stripped the rulers and the authorities, and gave them a public spectacle, triumphing over them with the cross.
We will see that the difference, between Passover or Easter, represents, above all, a confrontation of kingdom, a war between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of Babylon.
We can say, also, between Jerusalem and Babylon.
Truth represents a kingdom: the kingdom of light.
Confusion symbolizes another realm: the realm of darkness, the realm of the wide road, of death. The realm of confusion will always seek to obscure the realm of truth.
But the truth will always prevail.
Satan’s cunning always begins with a little seed of confusion. But its ultimate goal is for it to become a domination in our lives.
