Diffa – The President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (local CENI) of Diffa, Dr Maman Aminou A. Koundy, commenting on the state of preparations for the legislative and presidential elections of December 27, 2020, declared that these preparations are at a very high stage. advanced and said he was ready for these polls.
Asked about these preparations, Dr Aminou Koundy first congratulated himself on having led and brought about the electoral process relating to local elections in relative safety despite the major security challenges that arise in the Diffa region.
We are satisfied with the conditions for holding these local elections here in Diffa despite the imperfections that are not lacking, with a participation rate of around 50%, he announced while thanking the population of the region for being made massively to ballot boxes, the Forces, of Defense and of Security (FDS) for their subscription and their courage which allowed the security of the vote, the electoral agents and especially the Presidents of the Commissions of the centers for all their investment to achieve the results which I mentioned so much.
Addressing the issue of preparations for the legislative and presidential elections, the President of the CENI of Diffa declared that he was working hard for the organization of the legislative and presidential ballot of December 27, 2020.
We are at a very advanced stage of preparations and we are almost ready. Indeed, all the electoral material was sent on site in the Communes, and the local Commissions have already proceeded, in large majority, to the packing by polling station, he continued.
On this occasion, he indicated that the polling station agents were trained and will be sent on Saturday to the various localities to ensure the normal conduct of the various ballots.
Finally, I would like to reiterate my call to the population of the Diffa region to exercise their right of citizenship on a massive scale and to be the vanguard of security watch to help the FDS and the electoral agents to effectively secure the upcoming ballot. Indeed, it is a challenge that can only be taken up when everyone contributes their own, concluded the President of the local CENI.
The Diffa region has 296,297 readers spread over some 1,215 polling stations.
