Morelia, Michoacán
The Michoacán Integral Family Development (DIF) System has implemented the Universal Pass in the Rehabilitation and Special Education Center (CREE) and in the central offices of the organization, in order to guarantee the necessary infrastructure for all Michoacáns to have access to best care and service.
In this way, the DIF, chaired by honorary president Grisel Tello Pimentel, respects the Law for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities and the recent approval by the State Congress to install a universal step in all state dependencies, so that short people have better opportunities and assert their rights.
It is a platform, step, bench or horizontal accessory on which the foot rests safely to go up or down and can be supplemented by an extra step, according to needs, measuring no more than 10.50 centimeters per step. You can also bring a 47cm high handrail.
The legislative reform aims to equip public and private spaces with universal design equipment, allowing greater accessibility to procedures and services. This action arises in response to the call to work on public policies that promote and protect the full exercise of all the rights of short people.
It should be noted that the first Universal Pass was installed in the Welfare Secretariat at the end of October and the government of Michoacán continues to work on its implementation in the different administrative units and dependencies.
