Dieudonné indicted for defamation after accusing Manuel Valls of sexual assault

The polemicist Dieudonné has been indicted for defamation after the broadcast of a video on YouTube in which this controversial comedian accuses Manuel Valls of sexual assault, we learned Monday from a source familiar with the matter.

In this video released on October 22, 2020, the polemicist, whose real name is Dieudonné M’bala M’bala, accuses the former Prime Minister of having sexually assaulted a student when he was a history teacher and claims that he was taken into custody for these facts. “There is a file, she filed a complaint, it was heard, there was police custody, eh, eh Manu (laughs)”, declares the polemicist in this video. However, “no luck: already, Valls has never been a history teacher. Everything is false, ”reacted in March 2021 Me Thibault de Montbrial, lawyer for Manuel Valls, when his client attacked the polemicist for defamation.

Dieudonné and the “deepfake” theory

Dieudonné was indicted on December 13 for “public defamation of an individual” by an investigating judge in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), according to a source familiar with the matter. “We are satisfied with the indictment of Dieudonné after the particularly nauseating remarks he made against our client”, reacted to AFP the lawyers of Manuel Valls, Thibault de Montbrial and Pauline Ragot.

Contacted by AFP, Dieudonné’s lawyer, David de Stefano, did not wish to react. During a hearing on March 15 before the Versailles Criminal Court, Dieudonné, tried in another case of defamatory video, had launched: “It’s not me on the video”.

The polemicist had claimed to have been the victim of a digital trick, “deepfake”, during this trial in which he appeared for contempt of a magistrate. Deepfake is a sophisticated technique consisting, among other things, of superimposing one face on another.
