TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – A healthy lifestyle and consumption of vitamin-rich foods is a necessity during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, for those who work from home, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is not an easy matter. Many office tasks and busy routines sometimes make unhealthy eating patterns and lifestyles. Instead of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, in just one day people can order food and drinks back and forth through delivery applications or online motorcycle taxis, most of which contain high gula and salt.
according to nutritionist Sebelas Maret University Hospital (UNS) Surakarta, Banun Ma’rifah Fatshidi, this behavior is not good. The reason is, foods and drinks that are high in sugar and salt can bring various diseases in the body.
“There is a risk that if there is too much sugar, it will increase diabetes mellitus or many people call it sugar disease,” said Banun.
Meanwhile, if salt intake is not controlled, even to excess, it can lead to hypertension or high blood pressure.
Because most people don’t pay much attention to the intake of sugar and salt in the food and drinks they consume, Banun has tips so that we can control it. First, he advised people to comply with the recommendations for sugar, salt and fat consumption from the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). This is stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Health (Permenkes) Number 30 of 2013 concerning Inclusion of Information on Sugar, Salt and Fat Content and Health Messages on Processed Food and Ready Food.
“The guidelines are G4 G1 L5,” said Banun. G4 G1 L5 is the recommended sugar consumption per person per day is 10 percent of total energy or the equivalent of 200 kcal.
“Four tablespoons of sugar per person which is equivalent to 50 grams per person per day,” he explained.
Then, for the recommended intake salt is 2,000 mg or the equivalent of one teaspoon per person per day. If equated with household needs, according to the Ministry of Health, salt intake is equal to 50 grams per person per day. In addition to the recommendation of G4 G1 L5, Banun also asked to do a tracking of what foods have been consumed for a day.
“When it’s morning, sweet tea must be served.tracking so that in the afternoon or evening you don’t drink sweet things,” added Banun.
