Berlin. On the railway line there are currently major problems between Munich and Salzburg. The reason: On Sunday, a work train burned in Traunstein, Bavaria. Thousands of liters of diesel have apparently leaked. The route between Rosenheim and Salzburg is currently used to a very limited extent with long-distance trains. As a spokesman for Deutsche Bahn announced, the route capacity is at most half.

The trains can currently only with strong reduced speed drive on the section between Rosenheim and Salzburg. Together with the border controls, this leads to delays. It is planned to have one train per hour in the direction of Munich and one in the direction of Salzburg. Train burns in Bavaria: travelers apparently wait for hours

According to the local fire brigade, when the rescuers arrived on Sunday, a thick, dark column of smoke could already be seen. The repair train was on fire. This had also loaded around 6000 liters of diesel in two tanks. One of the tanks ruptured and thousands of liters of diesel fuel ran out, according to the fire department. The route initially had to be completely closed.

As the Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) reports, many were still standing late on Sunday evening because of the fire Travelers at the train stations in Traunstein and Übersee. Accordingly, according to BRB, it was not possible to win over a bus provider for the rail replacement service. The Malteser distributed water bottles in the evening.
