During the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, Variety had the opportunity to speak to Diego Luna about Star Wars: Andor. The actor playing the title character surprised everyone with the information that filming would be completed shortly.
“What’s good about Andor is that we know how it ends. And it’s nice to know that what you’re working on has an end and you have something to work towards, right? And we are getting closer to that. I only have a few days of filming left.”
Diego Luna says he has seven days left of shooting #Andor: “The good thing about ‘Andor’ is we know it has an ending. It’s nice to work knowing there’s an ending. You can aim for something.” pic.twitter.com/l4ZqkOesiS

When asked, Luna even got a little more specific and explained that he only had seven days of filming left. He would fly straight back to London the day after the Emmys and film the series.
Like many other series, Star Wars: Andor Season 2 was affected by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. A month-long break was unavoidable, even though filming had initially continued with cast and crew members who did not belong to the relevant unions. Filming has since resumed, but bad news couldn’t be avoided.
Although many would still have expected a launch in 2024, Star Wars: Andor has so far been missing from every press release from Disney and Lucasfilm that talked about the Star Wars 2024 schedule. So while you’ll be able to enjoy Star Wars: The Acolyte and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, when it comes to live action, that seems to be it for this year.
