Amazon Prime Video He is already preparing to present his most recent promising project: a superhero series. And at the front is none other than the renowned Mexican actor and singer, Diego Boneta, who has finally made the move to this genre of fiction in the world of entertainment.

The project, titled The cat, is an adaptation of the popular El Gato Negro comics created by Richard Vázquez. After a previous attempt to bring this story to the screen in 2019 with Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM), the project now resurfaces from Amazon Prime Video in collaboration with MGM, promising an exciting adventure full of action and mystery.

What is El Gato, the new series with Diego Boneta, about?

The plot of the series follows the life of Frank Guerrero, who will be played by Boneta, who upon returning to Mexico from the United States, after the death of his father, discovers a surprising legacy: his father was actually a masked superhero known as The cat. This revelation sets off a series of events that lead Frank to discover El Gato’s secret lair, located on a seemingly insignificant piece of land near the US-Mexico border.

According to the official synopsis, Frank will embark on a thrilling quest to unravel the mysteries surrounding his father and his connection to a dark plot. As he delves deeper into The Cat’s legacy, Frank will face dangerous threats and discover the true extent of the power he possesses.

Production of the series is scheduled to begin this spring of 2024, with locations on the border between Mexico and the United States. The writer Eric Carrasco, Recognized for his work on series such as Supergirl and Justice League vs. the Fatal Five, he will be behind the series as creator, showrunner and executive producer.

“Sharing El Gato with audiences around the world is a dream come true. This has been a dream since I started Three Amigos (their production house). Eric Carrasco and the entire team have built a character and universe that honors the superhero genre, and feels completely epic and original,” said Diego, who is also executive producer of the project.
