Marlies Krämer has been fighting for the linguistic visibility of women for almost 30 years. It is thanks to her that Hochs now also have women’s names in the weather news.
A film was made about her and her life in 2020. “The customer” is the title of the film that director Camilo Berstecher Barrero shot as “Femmage” for Marlies Krämer. The Saarland Women’s Council is now presenting this film together with a broad alliance of member organizations, including Anke Michalsky, the City of Homburg’s Women’s Representative, on Monday, November 15, at 6 p.m. as a nationwide online offer in a live stream. As part of the supporting program, Marlies Krämer and the film team will be interviewed. Participation is free, registration is possible on the homepage www.diekundin.com/frauenratsaarland.
The film looks at the 83-year-old Saarland native Marlies Krämer with tender astonishment and outlines a path in life that is as improbable as it is inspiring. With almost old-fashioned reserve, the young German-Colombian filmmaker encounters the indomitable and shows that international solidarity also lives in the Saarland province. For example, an interview with the pensioner from Sulzbach in Saarland appeared in a Mexican newspaper.
The Saarland Women’s Council wants this film together with a broad alliance of member organizations (Saarland Chamber of Labor, German Lawyers Association djb, German Trade Union Association DGB, Saarbrücken Women’s Office, Saarpfalz District Women’s Office, Women’s Representative of the City of Homburg, Saar Women’s Gender Library, Saarland Women’s Emergency Call, German Catholic Women’s Association kfd , LAG of the municipal women’s representative, profamilia Saarbrücken) and with the support of work and culture Saarland make Saarland accessible free of charge and thus honor Marlies Krämer nationwide.
