The former guerrilla sandinista Edén Pastora, known as “Commander Zero,” died Saturday in Nicaragua, supposedly a victim of the COVID-19although their relatives have been denied.
The family said that Pastor passed away to his 83 years of age, for health complications arising because of a suspected bronchopneumonia.
The death was confirmed one of their children of last name Pastora Briceño, who said to The Observer that the nicaraguan passed away at 3:45 p. m. this Saturday.
From hours of the morning were talked about on social networks for the possible death of the “Comandate Zero”, however, it was not until the afternoon that gave your death.
According to the daily nicaraguan Press, Pastor would have been hospitalized in the Military Hospital in Managua after suffering a relapse of health, since days ago I was also hospitalized for a suspected bronchopneumonia.
Yolanda Torres, wife of a Pastor, told the local newspaper that the former guerrilla had no COVID-19 and that the bronchopneumonia had been affecting since a long time ago. The status of the health of a Pastor is handled with much secrecy.
Who was a Pastor?
He was a former guerrilla, political, and military of nicaragua, was one of the most outstanding military leaders of the guerrillas of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), organizer and executor as Commander Zero of the decision of the National Palace in Managua on August 22, 1978 with Hugo Torres (Commander One), and Dora Maria Tellez (Commander Two).
During the fight insurrection against Somoza led operations in the Southern Front “Benjamin Zeledon” that clashed with the guerrillas of the FSLN with the elite troops of the National Guard.
He served as a public official, and after abandoning their posts, left for exile in 1982, first to Panama and then to Costa Rica where he announced his intention to create an opposing force that did not rule out military action against the sandinista government. During the current government of Daniel Ortegain October 2010 , Pastora led the works of dredging of the River San Juan, initiated by Nicaragua.
