LASK welcomes FC Red Bull Salzburg to the Raiffeisen Arena on Sunday, March 12 (5 p.m., live on Sky Sport Austria). The two fixed participants in the master group recently drew two times in a row. The athletes from Linz are looking forward to a great setting in the second home game in the Raiffeisen Arena.
In the 21st round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, there will be a top game between LASK and FC Red Bull Salzburg in the Raiffeisen Arena. Third-placed Linzers welcome the leader of the standings from the city of Mozart. Both teams can refer to a good spring record and are already fixed participants in the championship group: While LASK won four leagues and cups and one draw, Salzburg was able to win all four Bundesliga games of the new calendar year. Only the Cup-Aus against Sturm Graz and a 0-2 away defeat against AS Roma (Europa League) spoil the picture.
The first leg in Salzburg developed into a football thriller in October 2022: Marin Ljubicic gave the Black and Whites the lead in the final quarter of an hour before Oumar Solet managed to equalize for Salzburg in the fifth minute of added time.
Top scenery for top game
LASK’s last home game against Salzburg also ended in a draw – in March of the previous year, Linzer played 0-0. At the new edition of the home game, the backdrop will be much larger: compared to Pasching, there will be around three times as many visitors in the stands of the Raiffeisen Arena to cheer on the black and white crowd.
In terms of personnel, head coach Didi Kühbauer can look forward to returning: Alex Schlager and René Renner are back from the trio missing against WSG due to illness, the home game is still too early for Marin Ljubicic, the same applies to Akos Kecskes. Also back is Maksym Talovierov, who was absent due to a broken cheekbone. Philipp Wiesinger is unavailable against Salzburg due to complaints.
Head coach Didi Kuhbauer:
“We also want to successfully play the last two games before the points are shared. We are aware that Salzburg have the best team in Austria waiting for us, but we proved in the first leg that we can demand everything from them. This requires top performance in all areas and the willingness to push yourself to the limit.”
