Did you know, birds don’t get electrocuted when they land on power lines, why? : Okezone techno

JAKARTA – Have you seen bird that landed on the power cord? Maybe you are wondering whether the bird was electrocuted or not.

In the book ‘Stories of 1001 Super Science Facts in the World’ explains, birds are not electrocuted with high voltage because their feet do not touch the neutral or ground wire.

Therefore, it does not cause a change in the electrical voltage of the cable.

So, there is no electricity passing through the body of the bird or squirrel so it will not be electrocuted.

It is further explained that something can be electrocuted if there is a voltage difference.

If a human is electrocuted, it means that there is contact between the human body as a connector (conductor) and a high enough voltage source, causing a current to flow through the muscles or hair.

If something gives way between the power line and the ground, electricity will flow through it.

If humans touched the power cord like a bird gripping the wire, then humans would not be electrocuted.

Of course, if the feet do not touch the ground or use footwear that is an insulator such as plastic or rubber sandals.

However, don’t try it. Just birds and squirrels enjoying sitting around on high-voltage cables.
