The Dijon prosecutor has opened an investigation following the death of a 77-year-old woman admitted to the city’s university hospital. According to her family, she was neglected for several days before falling into a coma and dying.

What happened at Dijon University Hospital this summer when a 77-year-old hospitalized patient died of a coma? For the family, the lack of care is directly involved: the elderly lady simply would not have been fed for several days, according to her. A complaint is filed when the patient dies. The family of the deceased accuses health workers of abuse.

    An intervention postponed several times

According to the family report, the elderly lady had been assisted by the CHU for a simple fracture of the fibula. Her surgery was supposed to take place on an empty stomach, but would have been postponed several times, precisely because of her “non-priority” nature.

Also according to the relatives of the victim, the latter would not have seen the shadow of a single tray for several days, before falling into a coma and then dying on August 31. The old woman, however, would have had time to complain by phone about her situation with her daughter before she died.

An investigation was opened to determine the cause of death.

The serious case, however, remains to be clarified. According to information from Good audience, the Public Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation on 31 August following the presentation of the complaint presented by the family. An autopsy was performed to understand the circumstances of the death, he also pointed to the parquet floor of Dijon to our colleagues from France 3 Bourgogne-Franche Comté. The University Hospital of Dijon has not yet released any comment on this case.
